Tener presión arterial alta después de la semana 20 de gestación o inmediatamente después de que se produce el embarazo puede indicar la presencia de una afección llamada preeclampsia. Si no se la trata, puede poner en peligro a la madre y al niño. Afortunadamente, la preeclampsia se detecta con facilidad durante las visitas periódicas de atención prenatal.
