Enfermedad inflamatoria pélvica (EIP)

Muchas mujeres nunca han oído sobre la enfermedad inflamatoria pélvica, también llamada EIP. Se trata de una infección de los órganos reproductivos de la mujer. Es causada por una bacteria que se desplaza a través de la vagina hacia el útero, los ovarios y las trompas de Falopio. La infección puede afectar solamente las trompas de Falopio. O bien, puede afectar el útero, las trompas de Falopio y los ovarios. La EIP puede presentarse en cualquier mujer con una vida sexual activa. Pero es más habitual en mujeres menores de 25 años.
