Your Health Checklist: Syringe and Needle DisposalWhen you have Diabetes some of the tools you use to manage it may include a needle, and can be dangerous if not disposed of correctly.Anything with a needle such as syringes, pens, and lancets for monitoring, need to be thrown away safely.Follow this checklist to keep yourself, your family, pets, and neighbors safe when disposing of needles.Do: Put all objects with needles into a Sharps or heavy plastic bottle container after you use them.Do: Fill the Sharps container only about 3 quarters full.Do:Keep your Sharps container in a safe place, out of the way of children and pets.Do: Look up Sharps disposal rules in your area. There may be special drop off areas for you to use.
