Mucus can build up. Then the aircan't move in and out of your child’s lungs very well, making it hard to breathe.This is called a flare-up or an asthma attack.Asthma attacks may happen every now and then or, in severe cases, every day.With treatment, you and your child can learn to control symptoms and reduce the risk of asthmaattacks.Asthma is treated with medicine.Long-term control medicines help prevent asthma attacks. They are usually taken daily, even if yourchild feels well.Quick-relief medicines treat symptoms fast. They are taken as needed when symptoms flare-up.Taking medicines is an important part of asthma treatment.
