The placenta is an organ that forms during pregnancy.Normally, the placenta is attached to the inner wall of the uterus.But sometimes the placenta attaches to the cervix, the lower part of the uterus that leads to thevagina.This is called placenta previa.In placenta previa, the placenta can cover all or part of the cervix.Some people with placenta previa don't have any symptoms.But others may have warning signs such as vaginal bleeding or symptoms of preterm labor such asregular contractions and aches or pains in your lower back or belly.Your doctor may recommend that you limit your activities and they will watch you closely until yourbaby can be safely delivered.Most of the time a cesarean delivery is done.If you notice symptoms of placenta previa, talk to your doctor.© The Wellness Network This program is for informational purposes only.
